Welcome to the Carroll County Genealogical Society Library. Our collection is housed at the Westminster Public Library Branch located at 50 East Main Street in Westminster, Maryland. CCGS has over 1400 library items that are available for researchers, organized within its own area. Our items include:

- Self-published works
- One-of-a-kind works compiled by family researchers and more!
Our collection is owned by the Carroll County Genealogical Society. It is a reference library only, therefore the materials are not circulated and do not leave the library.

The CCGS Collection is available during normal Library business hours:
- Monday - Thursday: 9 AM - 8:00 PM
- Friday - Saturday: 9 AM - 5 PM

Our collection continues to grow with new purchases and donations of material focusing on our area of Maryland. CCGS strives to make information available to researchers by continually adding and refining our collection. Our books are filed according to standard library practice,
Family histories are filed alphabetically in a designated section, unpublished materials in folders or binders are usually filed on the magazine shelves. Family envelopes, journals and newsletters are filed on the bookcases against the back wall.

Research Thursdays are from 1 to 4 PM, at the Westminster Branch of the Carroll County Public Library. During this time research assistance is available and provided by CCGS volunteers. It is always helpful to let us know prior to your visit what your research goals are so that we can be prepared. Our collection is available during the regular library hours and with a brief orientation, you can use these resources more easily.
f it is not possible for you to visit on Thursday afternoons, please contact us at research@ccgsmd,org so that we can make alternative arrangements.
IMPORTANT - Items that are listed in our catalog as in storage are only accessible when CCGS Volunteers are available. It is recommended that researchers to the CCGS library make prior arrangements with our Library/Research staff if there are materials located in storage that you wish to access. CCGS volunteers are generally available on Thursday afternoons between 1 PM and 4 PM to assist researchers and these materials can be easily accessed then. If you need to make arrangements to view these materials please contact us at research@ccgsmd.org.
Unpublished Resources
Carroll County Public Library Personnel cannot access material that is in storage.
Tables are available in the Genealogy area for your convenience. WI-FI access is available through the Carroll County Public Library and can easily be completed following library instructions.
